The amount of tea used from tea to tea varies because they have varying densities.
Ideally use 1 gram (1/2 teaspoon) per 6 oz cup for a light tea or 2 grams (1 Teaspoon) for a strong tea.
Remember you will need more for whole large leaf teas.
For a 6 cup pot you only need 2 teaspoons of our blended or flavored black teas. For whole large leaf teas you will need more.

Always use a dry spoon. |
| 2. |
The cardinal rule is to use boiling water (212° F), not just hot water. |
| 3. |
Green teas are best using slightly less than boiling water, by letting the kettle cool for about one minute. Green teas with few exceptions tend to taste bitter when made strong. |
| 4. |
Allow the tea leaves to unfurl by stirring and permitting free movement |
| 5. |
After brewing time is reached stir the pot one more time and pour into cups through a fine tea strainer. The entire pot should be strained into cups or another pot. If the tea leaves remain in the pot you would get a stronger than desired or possibly bitter tea. |
| 6. |
Infuser baskets, tea presses and tea filters are other options. When the desired brewing time is reached you would simply remove the basket or filter from the pot, cup, or mug. |
| 7. |
Relax and enjoy! |
Water QualitySoft or purified water is best. Hard water may leave a film of oil floating on the tea due to the reaction between tea flavanoids and calcium hydroxide in the water. Hard water is not suitable for brewing tea.
Multiple InfusionsAll white and most green teas are whole leaf teas that are capable of providing more than one infusion. Their leaves and buds are complete and not broken into pieces.
A tea strainer or filter may not be required for these teas and may actually impede brewing due to restricted space for the large leaves.
About Our Micro Blended TeasOur tea company uses only premium Ceylon tea in our flavored teas and tea blends. Other companies may use the cheaper China black teas.
Our premium Ceylon teas are carefully selected for their flavor and color. Because of this, our micro blended teas yield more tea per pound, this amounts to using only ½ teaspoon (1 gram) per cup. Please do not make the tea too strong; teas are best when made light and delightfully flavorful.
Even the best teas can be ruined if not properly brewed. If you are reading this you are on your way to making the best tea possible.
